Fans Shocked as Rare Footage of MLB Legend Ichiro Suzuki Being Starstruck by Michael Jordan Resurfaces

Ichiro Suzuki is a former professional baseball player. He had an extremely long career which stretched over 28 years. Ichiro started his career in Japan, and played there for almost a decade. He then swiftly moved to the United States to compete in the Major League Baseball (MLB).

Ichiro was an exceptional outfielder. Moreover, he broke a lot of records and established his legacy in the sport.

An old video has recently resurfaced which shows Ichiro meeting Michael Jordan for the first time. This happened back in 1995.

Ichiro was fairly young when he met Jordan. He was still playing in Japan at the time. When Ichiro got to know that he had an opportunity to meet his Airness, Michael Jordan, he leaped at the opportunity. Jordan was a seasoned basketball legend by 1995. However, Ichiro was still young and was in the early stages of his professional career.

Fans react to Ichiro meeting Michael Jordan

It can be seen in the video that Ichiro was extremely flustered as soon as he saw Jordan. Fans loved how awkward Ichiro got around Jordan. All in all, it was a very wholesome moment.

When Ichiro saw Jordan, his reaction was not that of one player meeting another. His reaction was that of a fan meeting his long-time idol.

Ichiro introduced himself to Jordan. “Nice to meet you. My Name is Ichiro“, he says. You could figure out from the video that Ichiro was extremely happy, yet nervous at the same time. It’s always a lovely sight watching a fan meet their idol. NBA fans loved this depiction and took to twitter to share their appreciation.

Ichiro can be seen giggling and smiling in the video. The amount of happiness he had looked unmatchable. “He’s really nervous right now,” said his translator. Of course, Ichiro was nervous. What else would you expect to happen when you are in the presence of the greatest basketball player ever.

To put a cherry on top of what was already a perfect moment, Ichiro tells Jordan that he will not visit the United States again until he gets arms as strong as Jordan’s.

Some fans appreciated how cute Ichiro’s awkwardness was. On the other hand, others could not comprehend how they had not seen this video till now.

Even though this incident took place over two decades ago, it still brings a smile on fan’s faces. This was a feel-good, wholesome moment. Only love and respect between two great sportsmen.
