The NBA’s 75th anniversary saw a special ceremony to recognize the top 75 players to have ever graced the league. In what was an iconic scene, there were some old faces who got to see each other yet again. A duo that dominated the 9os, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson came face to face for the first time in a while. Notably, as they shared a picture of them together, which couldn’t hold back their emotions.

The relationship between Magic and Jordan has a complete timeline. A very important milestone for MJ came when he beat the Lakers and Magic Johnson back in 1991 in the NBA finals. It solidified his reign in the league. Moreover, it was a moment where Magic gave the mantle to Jordan. After that, the two even teamed up on the 1992 Dream Team, which set the Olympics on fire.

Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson back together

Both Jordan and Magic are really important players when it comes to the NBA. They revolutionized their positions and dominated the league in their active years. Unsurprisingly, both of them were part of the list of the top 75 players and were present at the ceremony. So as the two met, they posed for a picture together, sending NBA Twitter into a frenzy.

The two legends who dominated in their era and redefined the game of basketball were together in one frame and fans couldn’t get enough of it.

Dating back to how their friendship started, the Lakers and Celtics were going back and forth with the rivalry between Larry Bird and Magic. They both were the faces of the league as they met each other 19 times in the playoffs, including 3 NBA finals. However, things were about to change when a young Michael Jordan came into the league. He set his eyes on winning and once he got the first taste, Jordan had no intentions of stopping.

In the 1991 NBA finals, Jordan came up in his first NB finals, taking on the Lakers with Magic. Unsurprisingly, a young Jordan dominated the series averaging 31 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 11 assists against a 31-year-old Magic. The Bulls beat the Lakers in six games and that was the start of the Jordan era. After countless battles with Bird, he finally made it to the finals and beat the ultimate winner in Magic Johnson.

A year later, the duo went to the Olympics as a part of the Dream Team and this is where their bond took shape. Magic gave his position as the best player over to Jordan, who held it for several years before hanging his boots.
