The Lakers have seen the lowest of times in recent years. Despite a star packed roster, plenty of experience, and quality talent on display, the Lakers have failed to qualify for the play-in tournament. Naturally, this has made fans remember the Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant.

The team has underperformed by a long mile. They might not look like the best side in the league but they were still expected to at least fight for the play-off spot. LeBron James has been the only one to deliver quality basketball with consistency. Not only the attitude and winning mentality of players, but the tactics from Frank Vogel have also been questionable.

The Lakers have also not made a positive end to the season. They have now lost three matches in a row. LeBron’s ankle injury and sore knee has forced him to the sidelines. Apart from that, the playing time has been distributed between other players other than the normal starters. However, the reactions of the stars watching from the sidelines were not appreciated by the fans after probably the worst season in Lakers’ history.

Angry Lakers fans remember Kobe Bryant after another disappointing sight

On Thursday night, the Lakers visited the Warriors. The starting lineup included Stanley Johnson, Austin Reeves, Dwight Howard, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Malik Monk. There were no big names, not even on the bench. Carmelo Anthony and Anthony Davis were in the arena watching the game and were enjoying the threes by Dwight Howard.

Dwight Howard was 6 of 8 (threes) at that point and both Anthonys celebrated the points. Even at that moment, the game did not seem like it would turn in Lakers’ favor. Understandably so, the fans were pissed off at this. Moreover, they remembered the late Lakers legend who would have never tolerated such behavior, Kobe.

It’s true, Kobe was always driven by his arrogance to be the best. His Mamba mentality fueled him to try and be the best on the court. That also often made him get on or after his teammates and he certainly would not have appreciated the major stars of the team laughing like that after an utterly poor season.

The Lakers had rock bottom a couple of months back when they were struggling to keep the play-in spot and then the inevitable happened which would now mean they will finish 11th seed. It is understandable that there is not much the players can do now other than keep a healthy and positive attitude.

However, it would never sit right with the fans who give their heart and souls to the team. The Lakers desperately need to move things around and come back stronger next year to gain the faith of the fans back and look like the franchise with 17 NBA championships in NBA history.
