After the Golden State Warriors won their second straight title in a row, everyone thought this team was unbeatable. They had superstars in Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry and had a stacked team throughout. No one thought this team could get any better. But the Warriors had other ideas. They signed All-star center DeMarcus Cousins on Mid-level expectation and the league went nuts.
The team already had four all-stars and adding another one just seemed to make them invisible. Cousins was coming off an injury and not a lot of teams in the league wanted to sign him. So he decided to join the Warriors for a year so he could a title with them. Unfortunately, injuries to top stars derailed their three-peat attempt as they lost to Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors in the Finals. But when this move was announced, the league was shaken. The Warriors were already one of the greatest teams in NBA history, and adding a player like Cousins just seemed to make them unstoppable.

I think it 1 of only 2 times in history where the entire starting lineup of a team made the all star game the previous season. Added to a team that already felt like inevitable champs. And it Klay & KD don’t get hurt. They would’ve won again, so…

It was, March to April 2019 was torture, LeBron injured, "playoff mode", MVPG shoulder injury
DeMarcus was elite in the regular season (16-8-4-1.5-1.3 in 25m) and Warriors were unstoppable until Boogie got injured and later KD too. The Basketball Gods couldn't let that team win

How did the 2019 Warriors fare?
The Warriors were the favorite to repeat in 2019 without Boogie. And with him, they seemed unstoppable. Boogie made his return during the season and when he got used to his role, there was no stopping the Warriors. Many expected them to just sweep through the playoffs. But the basketball gods had other ideas.

Durant got injured in the second round of the playoffs and he missed the Western Conference finals. Unfortunately, when he made his return in game 5 of the Finals, Durant injured himself again, which caused him to miss the entire next season. Boogie also injured himself before the regular season ended, and the Warriors were never able to recover from this. Eventually, he did return in the playoffs, but he wasn’t himself. Despite all these injuries, the Warriors did manage to reach the NBA finals.
