Everyone has their favorite basketball players and when it comes to guards, there are numerous legends to choose from. Along these lines, Warriors’ returnee Andre Iguodala recently made a bold claim about estranged Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving. As Iguodala ranked point guards over the years, his statement drew widespread flak from NBA fans around the world. So what exactly did the 37-year-old say?

During the course of his long career, Andre Iguodala has seen some of the best guards on display. He has even been up close and personal with one of the best in Stephen Curry. Thus, he knows what it takes to be a great guard, and recognizes talent when he sees it.

Playing as a guard-forward, Iguodala currently averages 11.5 points in his career. When asked about the best PGs in the history of the sport, ‘Iggy’ made a questionable claim regarding Kyrie Irving.

Fans lose cool as Andre Iguodala ranks Kyrie Irving as 4th greatest PG ever

29-year-old Kyrie Irving is currently struggling to get on good terms with his Nets management. Yet, he has been a phenomenal guard for the Cavaliers and Celtics. Averaging nearly 23 points overall, he is an NBA champion too.

Iguodala, who played opposite Kyrie in multiple clutch encounters, recently stated that the Aussie-born legend is the 4th best PG ever. “Magic, Steph, Isiah Thomas. They’re the only guys that I will allow you to say are better than Kyrie,” demanded the veteran Warrior.

In response to these claims, NBA fans lost their cool on social media. Many of them believed that it was unfair on Iguodala’s part to rate Kyrie over many former greats of the game such as Oscar Robertson.

Meanwhile, some others even felt that there are current guards who are better than Irving overall. While one fan stated, “Kyrie isn’t even higher all time than Dame or Lowry,” another said, “Kyrie isn’t even greater than Westbrook all time.” What do you guys think?
