Even though the LSU Tigers clinched the NCAA women’s basketball Championship, the team fell prey to various controversies. Notably, the Tigers’ forward Angel Reese faced a lot of flak for her beef with Caitlin Clark. Moreover, several fans called out Reese for her actions. In response to a particular comment, LeBron James’s ex-teammate took a stand for the LSU player by hitting back. Meanwhile, the fans on Twitter took a turn and flooded the comments section, attacking the former NBA player.
Multiple videos of Reese’s ugly gestures toward Clark surfaced on social media, garnering mixed opinions from the fans. Some fans advocated that trash-talking is part and parcel of the game while others stood against it. However, things went out of control when former NBA Champion Richard Jefferson reacted in favor of Reese through his tweet.

Moreover, the issue didn’t stop there, one of the users called out Jefferson for advocating violence through his tweet.
The former Cleveland Cavaliers star replied to the user’s accusation with a brutal response, clarifying that he misunderstood his words. He wrote, “Surprising to see you thought physical action was the only option. Shows what your brain thought… shhhhh you’re telling on yourself.”
Do to him could mean just cuss him out back publicly. Surprising to see you thought physical action was the only option. Shows what your brain thought… shhhhh you’re telling on yourself.

However, it was already too late as the fans swarmed the comments section, attacking the ex-NBA player for not standing by his words. One user said, “Gaslighting people is the new cool.” Another user said, “What a backtrack lol.“
Why are fans furious over the Clark-Reese debacle?
The Iowa Hawkeyes’ rising star Caitlin Clark stepped into the March Madness finals with heavy expectations rested on her. Even though she scored 30 points, it wasn’t enough to take her team past the finish line. Moreover, the Hawkeyes faced a lot of questionable foul calls, including a controversial tech on Clark. On top of it, Reese pulled off several ugly gestures on Clark in the last moments of the game. These reasons prompted adverse reactions from fans. Following are some reactions from fans.
