The first game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies got off to a flying start. And the Wolves pulled the upset as they stole game 1 from the Grizzlies. This game was also marred by a fan as she chained herself to the basket, which resulted in her getting removed from the arena.

This was the second Timberwolves game in a row where such an incident happened. In the play-in game against the Los Angeles Clippers, a fan glued herself to the court and the game had to be interpreted. That fan was also removed from the arena. And now, in the second quarter of the game, a fan got up and chained herself when no one was looking. Security had to stop the game, and they cut the chain before carrying her out of the arena. Both these incidents were protests against the Timberwolves owner. But this wasn’t the story of the game, as the Wolves stunned the Grizzlies in game 1.

The Wolves take the lead in the series after an incredible playoff debut from Anthony Edwards. Karl Anthony Towns also bounced back from his disappointing play in-game as the Wolves secured a 130-117 victory. Edwards poured in 36 on 12-23 shooting and he also finished with 6 assists. Towns put in 29 points and 13 rebounds and he also had 2 blocks. Edwards became the third-youngest player to score 35 points or more in a playoff game as he did his damage from all around the court. Meanwhile, Towns dominated the paint as he toyed with Grizzlies center Steven Adams.?

This was a disappointing loss for the Memphis Grizzlies who have been outstanding all season long. Ja Morant poured in 32 points while Dillon Brooks scored 24. They did not have a bad night offensively, but they had no answer for Towns and Edwards. Adams couldn’t stop Towns all night long and he finished with 0 points and he took zero shots for the night. The Grizzlies will need to find a way to guard the Wolves, otherwise they will be looking at a 2-0 deficit going into Minnesota.
