The Phoenix Suns were able to come out on top against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 as Kevin Durant and Devin Booker scored 72 points together. Nikola Jokic’s 53-point effort wasn’t enough for Denver to win the game. Despite the thrilling nature of the game between the two teams, the altercation between Nikola Jokic and an individual from the stands became the highlight of the evening.

Nikola Jokic is hands down the most important player in the Denver Nuggets organization. The team would not want him to get involved in any controversy and get suspended or ejected as a result. If this happens, it would hamper their chances of contending for the NBA championship title. Therefore, the incident that transpired in game 4 was certainly a cause for worry for the Nuggets.

Nikola Jokic pushes a billionaire ‘fan’

When the ball went out of play during the game between Denver and Phoenix, Nikola Jokic went to retrieve the ball from the stands. Ideally, it’s the referee who brings the ball back into play. When Jokic was in the stands trying to get the ball back, he elbowed a fan standing beside him. It was later discovered that the fan was Mat Ishbia, who happens to be the owner of the Phoenix Suns

A lot of fans and pundits have called out Jokic for his rough conduct in the stands amid civilians. The Serbian center has also received a lot of backlash for brushing aside Ishbia, who intended no harm.

However, on the other hand, some fans have pointed out that it was Ishbia who grabbed the ball and put his hands on Jokic. Then Jokic hit him with his elbow and he fell back on his chair. Jokic received a technical foul for his actions but a large section of basketball supporters believe the altercation was initiated by the billionaire.

It remains to be seen if the NBA decides to take action against the Suns owner or not. Ishbia opened up about the altercation on his Twitter recently.

NBA fans react to Mat Ishbia’s tweet

Matt Ishbia was seen downplaying the severity of the incident between him and Nikola Jokic. He doesn’t want Jokic to be banned from game 5 of the series.

Many NBA fans definitely didn’t share his sentiment. They believe it was Ishiba who started the altercation and deserves to get punished by the NBA. They didn’t mince their words when giving their opinion on social media. Here are some of the replies put up by the fans beneath the owner’s tweet.

The fans were quick to point out that the billionaire shouldn’t be excused for his behavior.

The fans certainly didn’t go easy on the owner when they gave their take on the matter. Majority of the supporters realize that it was not Jokic’s fault as he was just retaliating. However, many fans took Ishbia’s side as well.

It’ll be interesting to see what the NBA decides to do in the near future about the incident.
