The GOAT debate is always getting hot takes. The conversation is more often than not dominated by two individuals, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Recently, Ray Allen shut down any case for the King. In a viral argument with a fan, the Miami Heat legend made it clear His Airness is the greatest of all time. However, NBA analyst Bobby Marks made a bizarre claim in the conversation. He put Stephen Curry over LeBron James in the conversation to be the best player of all time.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry arguably ran the NBA in the 2010s. Their rivalry was legendary as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors met regularly in the Finals. Through the series, they both got their legacies solidified. Curry went on to win three championships in that stretch. As for LeBron, he was the biggest reason the Cavs were anywhere near the NBA Finals.

Stephen Curry is in the conversation to be the greatest point guard after his fourth championship triumph last season. However, Marks took it one step further. He claims the Baby Face Assassin has done enough to surpass LeBron James in the GOAT debate. This sent shockwaves through the NBA world.

Has Stephen Curry surpassed LeBron James?

In the recent episode of  ‘This Just In’, Ray Allen’s video was echoing around the ESPN studio. In the midst of this, Marks was faced with the question of whether Allen got it right. At first, it looked alright with him saying the former three-point king nailed it. However, his next statement got every fan out of their seat. Bobby Marks put up a hot take and said Stephen Curry is above LeBron James in the conversation to be the greatest right now.

Marks said: “I think Ray Allen hit it on the head. And I’m gonna stun you with this take here. I  actually think Steph Curry is the second-best player of all time, right behind Michael Jordan. Curry has this instinct that I saw with Jordan, where any time he has the ball, you think it’s going in. He is a threat offensively. I think we have got three or four more years of Curry in his prime right now. I would put Curry ahead of LeBron James right now as far as that number two guy behind Michael Jordan.” 

Stephen Curry has one of the most stacked resumes in the history of the sport. In addition, he will go down as one of the most influential players in the history of the NBA. LeBron James on the other hand has played consistently over a longer stretch and has managed to stay healthy. When it comes to Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar suffered countless injuries earlier on in his career. Moreover, the accolades and numbers all favor the Akron Hammer for now.
