NBA superstar Ja Morant recently broke his silence after the Memphis Grizzlies suspended him from all team activities following the latest gun controversy. Furthermore, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently talked about the whole ordeal as well. Silver looked extremely disappointed and said that an investigation was going on. As Morant awaits the verdict of the league, many have given their thoughts about the issue. Now, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has talked about the incident as well.

Notably, Arenas himself faced a long suspension for allegedly carrying an unlicensed pistol during his time with the Washington Wizards. The 2003 Most Improved Player was then suspended for the most part of the 2009-10 season for his actions.

Gilbert Arenas on the Ja Morant controversy

Gilbert Arenas gave his thoughts about Ja Morant during the latest episode of the No Chill with Gilbert Arenas?podcast. During the show, Arenas emphasized that Morant needs to get himself under control or he can lose it all. The three-time NBA All-Star stated that he does not want to see the young star’s career go in vain. When Arenas was asked about his advice for the young star, he said that it is unfortunate that he has to keep saying the same things. He argued that the only way someone learns is when they are penalized. However, he was worried that it is hard to recover once a person is penalized.

Also, like many, Arenas expressed his concern about Morant’s company as well. He said, “We are gonna always keep saying, ‘The company you keep is gonna be your downfall.’ You show me your friends, I show you your future.”

As Agent Zero talked about the Memphis Grizzlies banning one of Ja’s friends from the FedEx Forum, co-host Josiah Johnson noted the same friend was the one who shared the recent Instagram Live. Furthermore, Johnson added that Ja’s friend moved the camera away as soon as the two-time NBA All-Star seemingly flashed a gun.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s statement

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was asked about the Ja Morant controversy ahead of the draft lottery. Silver said, “Honestly, I was shocked when I saw, this weekend, that video. We?re in the process of investigating it and we?ll figure out exactly what happened as best as we can. The video?s a bit grainy and all that, but I?m assuming the worst. We?ll figure out exactly what happened there.”
