“Everything in It Makes Me Eager..”: $230 Million+ Disney Movie’s Bob Marley Tribute Gets Lakers Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Nod

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest players in the NBA. He won six championships in the NBA, and five of them came with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kareem also became the greatest scorer in the league’s history with 38, 387 points in his 20-season-long career. Recently, the Lakers legend gave his take on Marvel’s $230+ million movie ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Hollywood Records and Marvel Music released the first three tracks of the movie in July. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stated on Kareem.Substack that he saw the trailer of Wakanda Forever months ago.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar loves Tems’ version of No Woman No Cry

The Los Angeles Lakers legend was impressed by Tems’ tribute to Bob Marley’s classic song. The two-time Finals MVP wrote, “While everything in it makes me eager to see the film, my favorite part is the Bob Marley song “No Woman No Cry” sung by Nigerian sensation Tems.”

Kareem suggested that Tems’ interpretation of Bob Marley’s song was uplifting and hopeful for the future. He pointed out that the song was mournful for what we have lost at the same time. Kareem felt happy about the idea of Wakanda being a futuristic empire, and that it was being ruled by fair and compassionate leaders.

Further, the 19-time All-Star added that Bob Marley’s version provided a ‘gritty contrast’ to the idea. Bob Marley seemed to have deeply inspired Kareem. A tribute to the Reggae god in Marvel’s latest movie has certainly made the Lakers legend a happy man.

Bob Marley was one of the greatest musicians to have walked across the earth. He brought Reggae music into existence and became a recognized music legend across the world. Unfortunately, Marley passed away due to cancer at the age of 36.

Moreover, the latest iteration of Black Panther will be released on November 11. The plotline of the movie suggests that Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora fight to protect the nation of Wakanda against the world’s forces following the death of King T’Challa. Ryan Coogler directed the film. In addition, the production cost is estimated to be over $230 million.

The latest version of Bob Marley’s song deeply inspired Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He felt that the two versions acknowledged the journey between where we came from and where we want to be.
