The NBA’s beloved Sir Charles is a man of great wisdom which he has acquired through the years. Known in the NBA as the Round Mound of Rebound, Charles Barkley‘s success story is one for the ages. Growing up in Alabama, he did not have the facilities that one would require to be a world-class athlete. However, his awareness of his reality made him step up to the challenges and he ended up defying all odds. This is why Barkley considered himself as a leader of his family from a very young age.

The 60-year-old NBA veteran is a bonafide legend. His impact and influence on the game and the overall culture of basketball are set in stone. From a very early age, Chuck drew inspiration from his adversities which elevated his game to the point where he was noticed by the league.
In a career spanning over 16 years, Barkley made 11 All-Star appearances and won the league’s MVP award in 1993. Although the legend could not win a championship which is one of the things that Shaq flexes on him, it did not diminish his position as an all-time great of the game.
On the season finale of The Steam Room, Chuck and Ernie Johnson bid farewell to season 4 in Miami. While answering a fan’s question on the show about the death of a family member, Chuck got emotional. He detailed aspects of his life that he feels were hardest to live through, but he also believes that those situations made him who he is today.
He said, “I’ve been really leading my family since I was like 16.” He added that “Everybody is looking around for me to lead,” and as per Barkley, it keeps him sane.
He said that he cannot afford to lose balance in his own life because that will end up harming his people.

Going further into the discussion, Chuck found himself in a situation where he had to agree with Shaq’s theory. He repeated Big Aristotle’s phrase, “If the general don’t panic, the troops won’t panic.” As much as he hates to say it, Chuck admitted that Shaq is right in his theory and that he follows it in his life as well.
