A tough man on the court, LeBron James is not afraid to go one-on-one with any basketball player and has made many hard hits on the hardwood. Yet when it comes to showing his emotions off the court, he never hesitates. 

Once, he mentioned that he cries when watching some movies, showing his sensitive side. Furthermore, he admitted that he sometimes forgets his family’s contribution to his quest for greatness. As a result, he once apologized to his wife, Savannah James.

In an episode of the ‘Road Trippin” podcast with then-Cleveland Cavaliers teammates Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, and sideline reporter Allie Clifton, James explained this. In 2017, he confessed a number of things, including that “real men cry”. Following that, he discussed how he cried watching ‘The Lion King’.

Furthermore, he also mentioned that watching the episode of ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ about Will Smith’s father’s arrival and then departure made him very emotional. He continued by saying he never saw his own father. 

It is no doubt that James has been one of the most athletically gifted players in NBA history and his accomplishments make him a player to watch. That doesn’t stop him from showing his emotional side to his fans, however.

Furthermore, he explained how watching ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ episode specifically makes him remember his own struggles in life. Every single time, I shed a tear,” he admitted, adding that men really do cry. “It could come from obviously me being part of a single-parent household and never seeing my father and things growing up when I was a kid, but it’s just an emotional part.”

A few years ago, when Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died, LeBron James talked about men crying as being okay. It was his intention to encourage others to show their emotions when they are at their lowest points.

“Men should be emotional when something hits your heart,” he said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “When something feels a certain way, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be emotional about it. ”
