As we inch closer to the release of the much-awaited biopic on Michael Jordan, the film crew has provided an exciting piece of news. The Rush Hour series star, Chris Tucker, recently disclosed his involvement in the film, Air, directed by Academy Award winner, Ben Affleck. Notably, the star comedian returns to the silver screen after a long break of seven years. Moreover, he credited the Chicago Bulls legend for his comeback in a recent interview.

Chris Tucker last acted in the film Long Halftime Walk which came out in 2016. While fans waited to witness the star’s performances, he finally broke the streak after 2319 days. The 51-year-old revealed the story behind his entry into the film and entirely thanked MJ for the role. Notably, the star plays the role of MJ’s friend, Howard White. Interestingly, Tucker also shares a friendly bond with White.

In a recent interview People, Chris Tucker spoke about his role in the film and Jordan’s hands in giving him this opportunity. As mentioned, Tucker would be seen playing the role of MJ’s friend, Howard White, who also happens to be vice president of the Jordan brand. The script took Tucker by shock when he read it. He said, “There wasn’t no words, it wasn’t no character, it wasn’t there in the script.” He realized that the script didn’t include his role initially until MJ stressed to the crew to include White’s character in the film.

Tucker further revealed the reasons behind accepting the offer. He said he picked up the role because of his love for MJ and after speaking with the makers, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Moreover, he hinted at his gratitude for making the role possible in the script and putting an end to the long wait.
