Michael Jordan has built an inspiring legacy. While he was phenomenal on the court (and phenomenal as a businessman), what really set him apart was his passion for the game. Even though none of his kids have moved into basketball, it did not diminish the passion they inherited for it. While Marcus’s podcast has taken off, we don’t hear as often about his daughter, Jasmine. Recently, she made an appearance on a podcast called ‘Birth Queen’. There, she spilled many beans about her life and ambitions.

A major talking point, however, was the footsteps of her father.

While having Michael Jordan as your father is insanely cool, it does come with a major spotlight. Whether it’s the constant media attention or the incessant scrutiny, Jordan’s children grew up under a microscope. In fact, Marcus has spoken in depth about this. And to think of a basketball career? Well, that is one hefty task.

As Jasmine explained, she became enamored with the game around age 10. From there on, she truly wanted to be involved in basketball, either as a player or associated with the game in some way. As a field representative for the Jordan brand, she has worked with some of the very best talents from the WNBA.

When asked about her playing career, she replied in the affirmative, even though she retired early. “I retired early cus I suck. I have no problem admitting that those genes didn’t come to me.”?

However, she did agree that she possesses the famous Jordan-brand competitiveness.

When I pick up a basketball…I have my dad’s passion and competitiveness. But, the skill set? No, that’s okay. I would trip over my own two feet and end up in a body bag within the first 10 minutes of the game. “

As a result, she decided to focus her time in other directions. Very much like her father, who, post-retirement moved from owning the basketball court to owning a team.

It’s an interesting take, but after making over $3 billion from selling his majority stake this year, Jordan will likely have no complaints about his time as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
