Luka Doncic is having yet another great season this year. Doncic is in his 4th NBA season. And yet again, his name moves around in the MVP conversation.
Though before his basketball journey started, Luka had other interests as well.
Before signing to play for Real Madrid, young Luka was indeed hesitant to leave his family and friends. But in the end, he agreed, a decision that worked out pretty well for Luka.

Luka Doncic had a special relationship with his father
Growing up, Doncic’s father, Sasa Doncic was a basketball player himself. Basketball surrounded Luka. When Luka was 3, he would go to his father’s games every time and would practice his shots during halftime.
“Well, my father played so I was always in like… I was saying, in contact with basketball. Uh, you know every time he had a game, in halftime or before the game, I was going to shoot.”, said Luka in an episode of JJ Redick‘s The Old Man and the Three podcast.
Luka couldn’t hit the rim, as he was just 3 years old. Still, he was always around the ball, playing. Young Doncic played a lot of sports which helped him in basketball. As he said, “I was playing a lot of sports. I think they helped me a lot in basketball. But I was only good at basketball, so that’s why I decided to play basketball.”

Indeed, the young one knew what was best for him. Luka loves to try out other sports now and then, especially football.

Luka Doncic’s inspiration was his father
Young Luka was guided by his father. Sasa Doncic’s teachings did not go to waste. As his son knew what he had in himself and was determined to show that to the rest of the world. The Slovenian has certainly made a name for himself in a short time. A feat that his father would surely be proud of.
