However, his death caused turmoil, and one of the most affected was his close friend James Harden.

The Beard and Hussle came from the same area of Los Angeles. Attending the same middle school, their friendship stayed strong even after fame hit. And even years after, Harden can’t let go of his middle school friend. The 10-time All-Star shared an emotional message on Twitter as he remembered Hussle. James Harden said: “Miss you bro”.

However, the master scorer wasn’t the only one who was close to Nipsey Hussle. Notably, Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook was a part of the rapper’s close circle as well. And to honor the legacy of Hussle, Brodie made history on the basketball court. Competing to the highest degree, Westbrook put up a stat line the NBA hadn’t seen since the days of Wilt Chamberlain. Likewise, he exploded for a 20-point, 20-rebound, and 21-assist?masterclass. Westbrook screamed the phrase, “For Nipsey”, as he walked down the court with pride following his achievement.

Not only did his music impact many, but Hussle never forgot his roots. The rapper used his love for basketball to spread love within the community. As James Harden goes into the new season with a motivation to recover his reputation, a championship would likely be the only thing on his mind.
