The future of some of the integral pieces of the Golden State Warriors is unclear. After the Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the reigning champions, the doubts about the future of Draymond Green and Jordan Poole in the team intensified. Also, there are concerns about Klay Thompson’s contract situation as well. So, fans are worried Stephen Curry could be left with little help. Amidst this, Bob Myers recently stepped down as the General Manager of the Warriors. And it looks like there are more changes to come.
Myers had been the GM of the Dubs since 2012 and was an integral part of the team’s success in winning four championships. In the past few months, there were rumors about him stepping down. However, fans were still shocked to see him leave the team.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were already part of the Warriors when Bob Myers took over the reins in 2012. However, he oversaw the building of the title-winning roster alongside head coach Steve Kerr. Some of the most important players brought in during Myers’ tenure are Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and so forth. He reportedly stepped down to spend more time with his family.

After the Warriors’ season ended, Kerr talked about working with Myers when asked about the future of the roster. According to a report from NBA, he said, “Ultimately it?s not my job; it?s really more Bob?s job to construct the roster, but the great thing about Bob and the way we?ve operated here is that we?ve always collaborated, so there will definitely be a lot of collaboration this summer on putting together the best possible roster for next year.”
It is not very common for front offices to collaborate with head coaches in the league. So, Kerr was understandably happy that Myers was open to hearing his input when it came to recruiting players and contracts. However, that might not be a possibility now. Furthermore, could there be a domino effect after Myers leaves? A new rumor about Kerr’s future hints at one.
Will Steve Kerr leave Stephen Curry and the Warriors?
Steve Kerr is the third longest-serving coach in the NBA behind Erik Spoelstra and Gregg Popovich. Many believe Kerr could emulate Popovich’s success and longevity with the Warriors. So social media went wild after Kerr was tipped to take over the San Antonio Spurs once Popovich retires. Here are some reactions:
