WNBA legend Sue Bird’s career has finally come to an end but maybe not in the way she wanted it to be. After winning in Game 3, The Las Vegas Aces, led by guard Chelsea Gray, beat the Seattle Storm again by 97-92 in Game 4 of their semifinal series. The series marked a comeback for the Aces from their disappointing 2020 WNBA Finals loss against the Storm. The game also marked the end of a remarkable career from WNBA legend Sue Bird.

Previously, in Game 3, the Las Vegas Aces emerged victorious over the Seattle Storm by 110-98, taking a 2-1 lead in the playoff series. Whereas in game 4, Chelsea Gray led the Aces to a yet another convincing victory. In the game, the 2016 WNBA champion registered a stellar 31 points and 10 dimes.

On Tuesday, the Aces faced off against the Storm in a crucial matchup. And they secured three wins in a row, marching on to defeat Seattle storm in Game 4, effectively ‘ending’ Sue Bird’s WNBA career in the process. The Aces and Storm gave the fans a splendid game with Gray scoring three jump shots in a row in the last two minutes of the game taking the game to three ties and three lead changes.

Therefore, Gray led the team to a rather historic win scoring 31 points and 10 assists. Several NBA stars including Dwyane Wade, DeMar DeRozan and Chris Paul took to Twitter and praised Chelsea Gray for her outstanding performance in the game.

On the other hand, Seattle Storm players Breanna Stewart scored 42 points making it her new playoff career high score.

Sue Bird retires from the WNBA

After having an outstanding career of 20 years, WNBA legend Sue Bird has finally called it quits after the Storm lost to the Aces in the semifinals. Bird is four-time WNBA champion. Besides, she has also secured significant success in the Olympics and other International competitions.

In an interview with ESPN, Bird said “It’s sad. Obviously, so thankful for 20 years here. I’m going to miss it so much. I’m not going anywhere. But I’m going to miss it.”

Bird had announced at the end of previous year’s season that she would be retiring. Afterwards, fans took it upon themselves to convince Sue to play “one more year.” After a series of hashtags and social media campaigns, Bird finally gave in to her fans’ requests and decided to stay for one more season.

Unfortunately, the season came to an early end for Sue when the Storm lost. After the game, fans expressed their gratitude towards the point guard player by chanting “Thank you Sue!” in the arena.
