Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Dwight Howard recently made his debut in the Taiwanese T1 League. The eight-time NBA All-Star made quite an impression in his very first game with the Taoyuan Leopards. However, his second game didn’t quite go the way he had anticipated. Howard faced an unexpected challenge that presented itself in the form of a 7ft 5inch tall opponent. The short clip of the two players’ altercation instantly went viral on the Internet and gained the attention of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and others in the basketball fraternity.

Dwight Howard‘s debut game was against the New Taipei CTBC and it was a huge success. The 37-year-old led his team to victory by 120-115. Howard scored 38 points, 25 rebounds, and nine assists. However, the following Leopards game proved to be disappointing for the big man who locked horns with one of the players of the opposing team. The minor dispute between the two players was shared by Shaq on his Instagram handle.

The Taoyuan Leopards faced the Tainan TSG GhostHawks on December 16 2022. While the Leopards overpowered their previous opponents with ease, they failed to win against the GhostHawks. Dwight Howard struggled to get a footing as well. The 6ft 10inch Superman was constantly being blocked by the towering 7’5 giant Sim Bhullar. The GhostHawks center is a Canadian basketball player of Indian descent.

In the video shared by Shaq, Bhullar was seen blocking Howard during which the duo got a tad bit physical. After watching both players pushing each other, fans commented that Howard would get beaten up by Bhullar. While no such incidents took place, fans nonetheless poured in with their thoughts on the matter. Below are a few of them.

Dwight Howard takes his talents overseas

In November 2022, future Hall of Famer Dwight Howard announced that he had signed a deal with the Taoyuan Leopards. Howard had entered the NBA through the 2004 NBA Draft as the first overall pick.

After playing in the league for 18 seasons, he decided to head to Taiwan. The reason was unavailability of a new contract after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
