The performances of Draymond Green have made him the backbone of the championship-winning Golden State Warriors. His intensity and toughness on the court set him apart from the rest. He may not have the best offensive numbers but defensively, there is no question that he is among the best in the NBA. Green recently revealed that he earned $850k in his first contract, which made him among the top 1% of America.
The Warriors team drafted Green in 2012 looking for a way to qualify for the playoffs and build a new core. This core won three NBA titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Draymond Green revealed that he didn’t employ a financial adviser during his first year. “I’m gonna do this on my own,” says Green subsequently, “I want to learn how to pay my bills, I want to learn how money works. And if I screw it up, I screw it up. Because at the end of the day, I’m 22 years old. I can’t live the rest of my life off this 400 grand I am going to take home, anyway.”
Draymond Green’s leadership for the Warriors
Green is well-spoken. He has a podcast where he reels off his thoughts about the games being players. Hence, there are rumors of him replacing Charles Barkley on “Inside the NBA.”
But unlike his well-spoken self on the screen, he is intense on the court. He, along with Klay Thompson, are the main defenders in this Warriors lineup. He had won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017. In the same year, he also led the league in steals.

His role as the “heart and soul” of the Warriors is now needed more than ever. They are facing a great Boston Celtics team who are also great defensively. Players like Tatum, Smart, and Brown too won’t lie down. Therefore, Draymond’s leadership has to shine through here. He can’t get engaged in technical and flagrant fouls in this series. It will be very bad for the Warriors if he does.
