While LaMelo might still be young, former NBA champion Draymond Green believes he is already a leader and compared him to Stephen Curry.

Talking on his podcast, Green was all praises for the youngster. Moreover, he made comparisons with teammate Stephen Curry and talked about how the two bring energy in the locker room.

Green compares LaMelo Ball to Stephen Curry

Apart from being one of the most famous basketball players in the world, LaMelo Ball has the skills to dominate the entire league. Playing for the Charlotte Hornets, he is already the best player on his team.

Moreover, former NBA champion Draymond Green feels LaMelo is a leader like Stephen Curry. According to Green, the two players are similar because they bring a different energy to the team.

Green said, “From what I see, his energy seems to be contagious. It reminds me a lot of Steph, in a different way. Like Melo’s more flashy and in life overall, not just on the basketball court. He is just culturally into more things than Steph isn’t.”

Draymond adds, “When I say he reminds of Steph, I mean the looseness. He is super loose, super chill, and super casual and he played the entire game of basketball that way. In turn, our entire organization ended up following like that.”

After being drafted in 2020, Ball has only improved. Furthermore, he took part in the NBA All-Star game this year. The two players mentioned by Draymond Green faced off against each other during the All-Star weekend.

How has LaMelo played this season?

LaMelo Ball is a crucial member of the Charlotte Hornets, the team that drafted him in 2020. The Hornets currently take 9th place in the Eastern Conference and are still in contention for a playoff spot.

Ball averages 19.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists this season. Thanks to his contribution to the team, Ball made it to the NBA All-Star team this year. During the game, he scored 18 points, shooting 7 of 11 in just 22 minutes for Team Durant. This appearance made him the fourth-youngest competitor in an All-Star game.
