The Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins hasn’t played with the team for a long time – one and a half months. Four-time champion and Wiggins’ fellow Warrior Stephen Curry was asked about the missing forward in an interview after the Warriors picked up an important win against the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry stated that he has not been in touch with Wiggins and gave an interesting reason for the lack of contact.
NBA buffs are eagerly waiting for the 28-year-old’s return and Curry’s response only added to their suspense. The Golden State Warriors‘ latest win over the Pelicans marked the 20th consecutive game missed by Wiggins this season. All we know as of yet is that the 2022 NBA champion has been sidelined due to an undisclosed ‘family-matter’.

Wiggins and his family are reportedly going through tough times. Earlier this month, nine-time All-Star Curry had some friendly words for the 28-year-old while speaking about his extended absence. Last night, in a post-game interview, Stephen Curry was asked whether he is in contact with his teammate and about a possible reason explaining the leave. The four-time champion responded by saying that his answer remains the same.
He added, “We?d love to have him and hope that that does happen. We want to be whole and I?m sure he wants to be a part of this. But when he walks through the door will be when it?s the right time for him. That?s kind of been the expectation at this point.” Interestingly, the 35-year-old revealed that he is not in regular contact with Wiggins and admitted that the team is trying to Wiggins some space.

Andrew Wiggins is one of the best players on the Warriors roster and contributed immensely to the Dubs’ championship win in 2022. The forward fits perfectly alongside Klay Thompson, Curry and Draymond Green as an efficient second scorer. As of now, the Warriors haven’t dismissed with the idea of him not coming back entirely and are hopeful about his return before the postseason begins. Dubnation more than shares that sentiment.
Fans wish for Wiggins’ return for the playoffs
Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts not long after Stephen Curry’s interview was posted on social media. Most appeared optimistic about Wiggins’ future.
Here are some of the reactions from fans:
@22wiggins don’t blow this back to back boss you don’t want that on your conscious, you can heal with your brothers the season almost over

However, some users commented that they don’t think the 2022 NBA champion would be able to return to hardwood this season.
We appreciate Wiggs' contribution last year, and without him, we wouldn't be 4x Champs. But I don't see him returning this year! pic.twitter.com/FeXTGO3Gc7
