Safe to say, his decision to return to the NBA at the age of 42 wasn?t welcomed wholeheartedly. From fans, and colleagues to even friends, everyone doubted the return of Rodman, and if anyone would want him.
Rodman?s wish to return to the NBA aged 42
Anyone who?s ever played basketball knows fitness is key, 4 quarters of running up and down the court doesn?t come easy. Dennis Rodman debuted in the NBA in 1986 and exited in 2000. After a three-year hiatus, the Rebound King wanted to return back, and finish his career on his own terms. There were many reasons why such a decision was doubted by his peers, from fitness issues to behavioral ones.
Rodman spent his last year in the NBA at the Dallas Mavericks, where many of his teammates felt that he was unmotivated. The five-time NBA champion and his apparent erratic behavior with many of his teammates and franchises didn?t fare well. This can be termed as one of the causes of the negative reception of his comeback announcement.

His colleagues and friends doubted his fitness as well because playing in the NBA aged 42 is unheard of. Many also shared their few cents as they thought Rodman needed proper care and more attention. This was something that teams wouldn?t want to gamble on at a 42-year-old. Added to that Rodman’s controversies seemed to be never-ending at the time.
