However, before he entered NBA, there were doubts about Ball and how his game would play out in the world’s richest basketball league. People pointed to his brother, who had struggled to find consistency during his time in the NBA. But LaMelo has quelled all those concerns.

LaMelo Ball‘s father LaVar spoke to ESPN Radio recently. When asked about how much advice LaMelo seeks from Hornets owner and NBA legend Michael Jordan, LaVar had a surprising answer. Ball revealed that LaMelo has not sought out any advice from ‘His Airness’ and that there is nothing that Jordan could tell him that LaMelo doesn’t already know.
“How often does he seek out advice from Michael Jordan? Never! What advice is he going to give? When was the last time he won a championship? And the game has changed. What is he going to tell him? The Charlotte Hornets have been around for a long time before my son got there. Tell some of those guys how to win. You don’t need to tell my boy!”

This news might surprise a lot of NBA and Hornets fans. LaMelo Ball impressed Michael Jordan in the nascent stages of his career. In fact, Jordan gave his blessing to the Hornets to select LaMelo with the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Furthermore, since his arrival, Jordan has been very appreciative of LaMelo through the season the few times he has addressed the press.

LaMelo has been putting up fantastic numbers throughout the season. He is currently averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Furthermore, Ball has been the stand-out front runner for the NBA Rookie of the Year title.
He, along with Gordon Hayward, has rejuvenated the Charlotte Hornets franchise. Prior to his arrival, Jordan and the Hornets had been floundering and been a perennial lottery team.
