“Don’t Let MJ See This”: Fan Art Showing Kobe Bryant Hitting a Buzzer Beater on Michael Jordan Sends NBA Fans in a Tailspin

The Kobe Bryant versus Michael Jordan duel was one that fans didn’t get to watch exactly. Jordan and Kobe have faced off numerous times, but never in their primes. Bryant’s prime started to take shape in 2000, whereas Jordan had retired in 1998. He did come back in 2001 but wasn’t as good.

Fans mostly predict the winner now using stats or simulate the duel in an algorithm or in NBA 2k. Similarly, LeBron versus Jordan never happened. At this point, fans can just imagine how their battles would’ve been. Well, a stop motion animator on Instagram did just that.

An Instagram reel showing stop motion animation of Kobe hitting a game-winner over Jordan went viral. This was an entertaining edit of Kobe and MJ with commentary as well. There are two action figures of Bryant and MJ and a small toy basket was used to make this animation. This obviously had fans bring up the Kobe versus MJ discussion. While this was just an animation, fans had all sorts of replies.

Attention to detail

The movement of both the player can’t seem more real. The attention to detail is even more interesting. As soon as the buzzer sounds, the toy basket’s edges flash the red LEDs. This is what happens when the buzzer sounds in an NBA game in real life. Also, Kobe’s wrist flick after he releases the ball looks as realistic.

Stop motion animation clips are a piece of art. They require patience and a lot of work. The position of the action figures has to be accurate to every tenth of a second. Here Kobe even does a shoulder fake on MJ before he fades away. Such edits and animations are unique.
