The Toronto Raptors have all the attention as February 9 gets close. As the 12th seed, the 2019 champions have sunk this season. With their downfall, several of their stars have the potential to hit the trade blocks. Notably, the news around arguably an All-Defensive member this season, O.G Anunoby is creating major buzz. The 25-year-old has attracted interest from several teams. However, it seems the New York Knicks are willing to go all in on the young star. Notably, they’re are willing to offer up their first-round picks, something they hesitated to do during the trade for Donovan Mitchell.
When Utah Jazz’s Mitchell hit the trade market, New York looked to be hungry to bring him in. As one of the superstars of the league, his trade value was high. According to certain reports, the Jazz wanted unprotected picks along with a few young stars. However, New York wasn’t willing to go past two unprotected picks. Moreover, they were also skeptical to give up Quentin Grimes. Capitalizing on the opportunity, the Cleveland Cavaliers gave Utah just what they wanted.
That’s how the story of Mitchell, who would have loved to play in New York ended. It seems now the times and approach of the Knicks front office have changed. Notably, they are willing to be much more generous in their pitch for O.G. Anunoby. Likewise, this left the fans boiling.

Knicks willing to do more for Anunoby than Donovan Mitchell?
Anunoby has arguably been one of the best two-way players this season. In 45 starts, he is putting up 16.9 points and a career-high 2.1 steals per game. Tonronto’s disappointing season thus far has seen several teams monitor his situation. While their decision will go down to the wire, the Knicks seems to be ready with an offer. According to Bleacher Report, they are the franchise who are willing to offer three first-round picks.
This saw their own fans turn against them. They were frustrated ripping New York for not giving the same treatment to a superstar like Mitchell.
Didn't want to give up grimes for Mitchell but the Knicks want to give 3 frps for OG?

LMFAO
The Knicks final offer for Donovan Mitchell, an All Star starter & MVP candidate, was TWO firsts.
Now they’re offering THREE frps for a role player on a non-playoff team😭😭😭😭

So you fumble and pass on Donovan and just turn around and offer a similar package for OG?!
— JG (@JG_Vamped) February 1, 2023
They're going all in on OG but didn't want to with Mitchell LMAO

Knicks aren't gonna win with Randle and Barrett that's for sure. They need a bonafide superstar or a budding one at least. Should've given up Grimes for than Mitchell trade 😬
— Jeff Parde (@JeffParde) February 1, 2023
Lmao wouldn't pay up for Mitchell, but will for OG. This is exactly why this franchise blows.

However, there is a key detail in the Knicks’ offer for Anunoby. Notably, all of their first round picks are protected. As Grange revealed, they are rumored to be top-10 protected, top-14 protected, and top-18 protected. Anunoby is one of the stars in Toronto. Likewise, the least they will expect would probably be two unprotected picks. In addition, New York will also have to lay off one of their young talents to match the the 25 year old’s salary.
Diving deep, New York might be holding back on their offer yet again. O.G Anunoby is arguably a rising star in the league. Leading the league in steals, he has asserted himself as one of the best defensive players in the league. The Knicks are trying to climb out of the play-in picture. Currently the 7th seed, Anunoby’s two-way skill could go a long way alongside Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett.
