The trade did not take place as Brooklyn reportedly declined the offer. This led to the Utah Jazz working out a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers which sent Mitchell to ?The Land,? while the Jazz received Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, draft picks and pick swaps in return.

The trade between the Jazz and the Cavaliers arguably worked out well for both teams. As the Cavs received a proven All-Star while the Jazz received a solid defender and scorer in Collin Sexton along with a now All-Star, Lauri Markkanen.

However, one cannot help but wonder what the outlook of the league could?ve been if the trade went through. The Utah Jazz would?ve gotten another building piece while the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets could?ve turned into instant title contenders.?

Though Simmons did the best he could while playing alongside two All-Stars, one could tell that he was still afraid to shoot the ball and create a shot for himself.

As for the rest of it, sending Donovan Mitchell to the Heat would?ve definitely changed the course of the franchise. Both Mitchell and Jimmy Butler would?ve been a real threat to the entire league with instant energy and scoring.

As for bringing Bam Adebayo to the Nets, that could?ve surely been considered a big three as well. As Adebayo is a player who is not afraid of contact or getting his hands dirty. Adebayo and Irving might have developed great pick-and-roll chemistry, while Durant would?ve helped space the floor.
