The Chicago Bulls reigned supreme in the 90s, winning 6 championships in a decade. It is tough to not applaud and admire the brilliance of that team. However, an NBA legend recently admitted that he was jealous of the Bulls star Scottie Pippen. Although his reason is understandable, having career-long jealousy with your peer is not a common story.
Pippen was arguably the second-greatest player for the Bulls during that time. Although he has gotten fed up with being considered a second fiddle to the great Michael Jordan, the general perception remains unfazed even after his comments. As per Kenny Smith, Pippen’s opportunity to get to play alongside the GOAT made him jealous of the 6x NBA champion.

Kenny Smith played for 6 teams over the course of his career. He won two championships with the Houston Rockets in the same decade when the Bulls had their dominance. The Jet now works as a sports commentator providing expert insights on the game. During a recent conversation with Stephen A. Smith, Kenny revealed his feelings towards the Bulls legend. Although his jealousy had nothing to do with Pippen specifically, he was more concerned about the team that Pippen was accompanied by. He revealed the Michael Jordan angle behind the jealousy that he feels toward Pippen.
While talking to Stephen A Smith, Kenny said: “I was jealous of Scottie Pippen my whole basketball career.” Kenny’s jealousy stems from the fact that Pippen had a teammate like Jordan, who pushed him toward greatness. “The doctors were saying, oh, he’d only have a two-year career, based on his knee, his ankle,” he added. Kenny said that the doctors were wrong, as the reports from other doctors said otherwise. While further detailing his jealousy, he said, “I was jealous that Scottie Pippen got to play with Michael Jordan.”

The Bulls legend has been on a ranting spree recently where he talks about Jordan in the wrong tone. The 57-year-old who had a crucial role to play in establishing the dominance of the Bulls during the 90s is fed up with being a side character in the Jordan story. In fact, Pippen went as far as calling MJ a “horrible player” while he portrays himself as an “unsung hero” in the Bulls dynasty.
