Kyrie Irving is currently under a lot of fire from the basketball community due to his controversial Twitter post. His failure to clarify his actions and the post has led to a further backlash, causing the suspension of his contract with Nike. His current behavior is not something new, as the Brooklyn Nets Star has stood his ground even on controversies.

Irving once revealed what he actually thought about discussing his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mentioning his thoughts on potential problems in personal relationships if he didn’t.

Kyrie Irving on his 2017 Cavs exit

Kyrie Irving won an NBA Championship with Cleveland Cavaliers and went to 3 more NBA Finals with the Cavs. Having one of the most historic runs in the franchise’s history. He alongside LeBron James was essential for the Cavs’ run. His decision to leave the franchise in 2017, a year after winning the NBA Championship and immediately after his third consecutive NBA Final came as a shock to many.

He decided to speak on the matter while talking to Stephen A. on the matter in 2017 and expressed himself freely. On being asked whether he had a conversation with LeBron James before taking such a huge decision, Irving casually responded. “No” and added “Why would I have to?” to further inquiry on the same. Stephen A expressed his opinion on how people might take such things personally and asked “Do you care about that at all?”. The Nets star reiterated that he didn’t.

Such opinions on things have been controversial for the NBA superstar for a very long time, in this case, considering LeBron James and Kyrie Irving’s relationship in the Cavs, it was a shock. The four-time NBA champion and Irving were very close during the time and this was a response not expected.

The Nets star’s exit from the Cavaliers didn’t turn out to be as successful as his previous team. As the star has not appeared in any NBA Finals since then.

Irving’s Celtics career

Calling Irving’s Celtics career a total failure would be harsh as the NBA superstar reached playoffs in both his seasons on the team.
