LeBron James is the latest hot topic in the sports world following the memorable Los Angeles Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 4x NBA champion felt the love as his friends, family, and fans from all around the world joined in to celebrate his accomplishment. Similarly, several celebrities too came forth to congratulate ‘King James’ as he marked his 20th season by becoming the new all-time scoring leader in NBA history. However, one particular tribute that probably stood out the most was given by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

LeBron James has been in the league for 20 seasons now. Throughout his career, the 38-year-old has set several milestones that established him as one of the best to ever play the game. However, surpassing NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the all-time scoring list is probably his greatest achievement so far. The 19x NBA All-Star now has a total of 38,390 points compared to Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387.

Shaquille O’Neal dedicates a musical tribute to LeBron James

Multiple celebrities conveyed their wishes to LeBron James via videos and tweets. However, Shaq added a little twist of his own in a congratulatory video for the ‘Akron Hammer’. Being a musician himself, Shaq even reeled in hip-hop artist Blackway and DJ/Songwriter KoKo to work on the video. The trio got together and created a personalized song called ‘King Talk’ for LeBron. The heartwarming video also featured the animated versions of basketball legends Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar waiting beside the throne and James walks through a sea of fans cheering for him.

Additionally, the clip showed Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant’s jersey no. 24 and Gigi’s Jersey no. 2 placed on two chairs with flowers as LeBron stopped for a second to look at them. He then proceeds to the throne where a crown is placed on his head. As he takes his seat on the throne, his three kids and wife Savannah join him.

This is arguably the best tribute given to James so far as the video included every individual who held a significant meaning in his life and career. Shaq uploaded the clip on his Instagram handle with a caption that read, “congratulations @kingjames job well done my man my boys @iamblackway and @kokostopit had this waiting for you”.

James’ family witness the historic moment

With just 36 points to go, the Crypto.com Arena was filled with thousands of fans including LeBron James’ family and the who’s who of the sports world. As James took the significant shot in the third quarter, James’ sons Bronny and Bryce, daughter Zhuri, wife Savannah, and mom Gloria ecstatically joined him on the court while fans cheered from the spectators’ seats.

An emotional LeBron hugged his family before walking over to his predecessor, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who presented him with a ball as a show of passing on the torch.
