NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and his ex-wife Shaunie formed one of the best power couples during their time in the NBA. However, their relationship did not stand the test of time, and the two split.
Since then, Shaq has dated a lot of women, but Shaunie remains to be the only woman he has ever married. On the other hand, Shaunie moved on in life recently after she married Keion Henderson.
Talking in an interview, the 4 time NBA champion gave some tips regarding how couples should approach their relationship. Moreover, he also stressed how fighting leads to high rates of divorce.

Shaq said, “When it comes to marriage, you have to realize that certain things will happen. You’re gonna have a disagreement or argument, you can’t let that pester on, right? Sometimes as a man, you just have to say, okay, and sometimes as a woman, you have to say okay. Like me and my wife, we had a rule. We argue on Thursday, just leave that on Thursday.”
“If you argue, it leads to fighting, and fighting leads to, you know, ya’ll don’t need that. We need to keep together, the divorce rate is way too high,” said the former Los Angeles Lakers star.
Why did Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie split?
Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie started seeing each other in the late 1990s when O’Neal lit up the league playing for the Lakers. After dating for some time, the two tied the knot on December 26, 2002.

Although the two were together for a long time, their relationship was rocky, and they separated twice in 2007 and 2009. Subsequently, the two split legally in 2010, citing irreconcilable differences. The two share 4 children together and Shaunie sought custody of all four of them while filing for the divorce.
Interestingly enough, O’Neal pays $10,000 per month in alimony and an additional $10,000 for his four children. That’s quite an expensive split!
