The Chicago Bulls had their hearts in their mouths during an enthralling finish against the Atlanta Hawks. In what was a clutch time bucket fest, the Bulls’ Aye Dosonmu beat the buzzer to secure a nail-biting win. However, the win seems to have come at a huge cost. Notably, former Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso suffered a scary collision that marked the end of his night. What started as a shoulder injury quickly grew into his being monitored for a concussion. And he is out with no real timetable for his return.
Alex Caruso began the game against the Hawks in sublime fashion. The ‘Bald Eagle’ amassed 5 points on 2/2 field goals in his short 10-minute stay. Moreover, he was intercepting lanes stealing two possessions away from the Hawks. Making a reputation for giving his all in the ball game, Caruso was in a battle for a loose ball. However, his efforts ended up in terror. A nightmare collision saw him on the floor for a series of possessions until DeMar DeRozan turned the ball over to check up on his teammate.
The 28-year-old immediately went to the locker room in what came off as a shoulder injury. However, the story had more as Caruso is now under concussion protocols, adding to the worries of the Chicago Bulls.

Lakers target Alex Caruso under concussion protocol
Only a season ago, the Bulls stole away Alex Caruso from the?Lakers. And he almost made an immediate impact even leading the steals stat at one point during last season. With the purple and gold’s struggle on the defensive end, Caruso’s name has come up in trade rumors attached to the franchise. While it’s unclear whether the former champion will make a return to LA, he seems to be out of action for the coming few games at least.
Notably, after suffering a collision against the Hawks, the Chicago Bulls reported his absence from their coming battle against a hot New York Knicks. And this is arguably a huge loss for the Eastern Conference side who seemed to have found their rhythm in the last few games.

Caruso’s stats might not pop out, averaging 5 points and 3.6 assists per game. However, his impact on the floor goes beyond the numbers. His defensive presence makes it tough for any opposition to get easy buckets. In their thriller against the Hawks, Caruso recorded a +\- of 19 in just 10 minutes. Moreover, over the last five games, he has averaged 2 steals per game to go with his offensive production. The former Laker is certainly the defensive anchor for the Chicago Bulls. Able to stay in front of the most elite guards, Caruso’s absence might interrupt the Bulls’ momentum.
