After Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA finals in 2020 for the first time since 2010, they have not been able to continue that winning form. After that they made it to the playoffs in the very next season. However, in the 2021-22 season they could not make it to the playoffs and finished 11th in the Western Conference. While everybody thought they might do better in the current season, Lakers are yet again disappointing on the court.
The Lakers, currently ranked 13th in the Western Conference, have let their supporters down once more. While having a record of 26-32, Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs are not dead but very slim. With the season going sideways, the franchise tried to make some amends in the trade market with an eye for a place in the playoffs.

Charles Barkley and his Lakers troll
Even after trading Russell Westbrook and acquiring D’Angelo Russell in a three-team, eight-player deal, Lakers have not looked any better. Their performances are still underwhelming. While the Lakers squad might be looking better now, Charles Barkley took a hit at the Lakers pre-trade window squad. Barkley trolled the Lakers squad while talking on Jimmy Kimmel Live show. The show also had the comedian Guillermo Rodriguez on it.
While talking on the show and getting to know that Rodriguez is playing in a celebrity basketball game, Barkley trolled Lakers by saying that the comedian could have played for the Lakers too. He went on to say that the Lakers squad stunk before the trade window. Barkley said, “If I would have been on the show a week ago, Lakers would have used him (Rodriguez) because they stinked a week and half ago.” The basketball legend jokingly said that he could get LeBron James‘ phone number for Rodriguez.

Lakers after the trades and eyes on playoffs
After getting squad additions, LA Lakers have not yet found that winning touch. Even after the trade Lakers have only won one of their last 4 games. Despite have a comparatively younger and stronger roster, there is still a lot to do to get back to the winning ways. While Lakers still have a 28% chance of securing a place in the playoffs, it still remains a question whether the new squad could do something special.
