More often than not, Valentine’s day produces the most memorable moments of the year if you are fortunate enough to spend it with someone special. Likewise, 14th of February saw Valentine’s fever also seep into the NBA world. Stars around the league shared the special day with loved ones, which took center stage on social media. Moreover, the games scheduled on the day also witnessed a romantic ambience in the arena. Fans were treated to loads of special events and mini-games surrounding the theme of love, with fun asides like ‘kiss cams’ running rampant during the games.

Amid all the romantic frenzy, a Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic game made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Incidentally, the Raptors’ arena managed to ruin Valentine’s day for one fan forever.

NBA ‘Kiss Cam’ moment goes horribly wrong on Valentine’s day

On Valentine’s day evening, the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors faced off against each other in the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Needless to say, Valentine’s fever was prevalent even in the North. The Raptors had seemingly gone out of their way to create a romantic environment for all the couples in attendance. However, they should have realized couples aren’t the only fans present to enjoy the sports action that evening. Though PDA is not uncommon in NBA arenas, the organizers seemingly set them up for failure after an NBA’s ‘Kiss Cam’ moment went horribly wrong.

Over the years, the iconic NBA’s ‘Kiss Cam’ moment has produced some of the most endearing and memorable moments. However, the romantic segment between timeouts and halftime has also produced its fair share of awkward moments. Likewise, the Magic and Raptors game witnessed a similarly awkward moment that is now going viral on social media.

During a timeout, around the final minutes of the first quarter, the Raptors’ rolled out the ‘Kiss Cam’ segment. After spotlighting several couples and producing some wholesome moments, the camera abruptly focused on a single fan sitting alone. However, it got real awkward when the camera didn’t cut off and kept rolling with the unfortunate fan in focus amid the ‘Kiss Cam’ segment. Without a partner in sight, the fan with little to no options to work with resorted to enjoying his beer sternly.

Needless to say, such a ‘traumatic’ experience may have ruined Valentine’s day for the fan. Subsequently, the Raptors’ received a mixed reaction from fans. Many laughed at the poor’s fan misery harmlessly. However, some fans took offense to the insensitivity.
