Movies and documentaries about or starring NBA Players and their story to stardom aren’t a rare sight. From Coach Carter, Space Jam, Tony Parker: The Final Shot, and The Last Dance, to the Greek Freak, NBA stars bring ready-made narratives for Hollywood. After establishing himself as one of the most dominant NBA players in the league, Giannis Antetokounmpo will see his life story being featured in a Disney movie.

The reigning MVP will be taking over Hollywood soon, and the work to turn this idea into reality is already underway.

This story not just focuses on Giannis’ rise from being an undocumented immigrant to a NBA superstar but also the story of his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

When Giannis posted a Tweet in October last year looking for actors, it almost felt unreal.

He wrote, “Disney is making a movie based on my family’s story and they are searching for actors to play me and my brother, Thanasis, in our younger days. No experience necessary! It helps if you resemble the handsome boys pictured below and have some basketball experience. SPREAD THE WORD!”

For a more detailed understanding, they also released a casting sheet. It says that they are in search of Greek-Nigerian, Greek-speaking men, who are either in their teens or early twenties.

Also, they have clarified that they don’t need anyone with acting experience. Along with that, there are also details of other actors they need with steps to submit an audition tape.

Giannis Antetokounmpo makes his way to Hollywood

Giannis was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks back in 2013, and since then, he has Two Kia MVPs, Defensive Player of the Year, Multiple All-Stars, All-NBA nods, and much more.

One can judge where he stands in the league from the way teams were itching to sign him if he hadn’t had decided to stay with the Bucks.

In fact, just like last season, the Bucks are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, holding a 16-9 record. Hence, his foray into Hollywood is co-inciding with the purple patch of his career.

However, the question remains, will Giannis regret signing his extension with the Bucks? Or will this be the year he takes them to a championship?
