After comedian Chris Rock made some jokes at the expense of Hollywood superstar Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith during the 2022 Oscars, Smith took offense and slapped Rock on live TV. After the incident was broadcasted across the world, the room had split into two factions. While some people called Smith’s reaction unnecessary, backing the comedian, others claimed that Rock went too far by joking about Jada’s medical condition. Recently, the debate has been reignited after Chris Rock’s new special on the incident is making rounds on the Internet.

LA Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal recently revisited the fiasco while addressing Chris Rock’s new special. However, he received a brutal response from an NFL veteran for defending the comedian for his jokes.

During the recent edition of The Big Podcast, Shaq sat down with co-hosts Anthony Adams and Nischelle Turner to discuss a variety of topics. Soon the discussion veered to the new comedy special that Chris Rock has recently put out, making fun of Will and Jada Smith.

Shaq said that Rock is well within his rights as a comedian to make fun of situations or people while performing his art. He also referenced himself saying, if a comic makes fun of him, he will not go and punch them for it. In the words of Dr. Shaq, “It’s Comedy”.

Meanwhile, NFL veteran and podcast co-host Spice Adams did not agree with Shaq’s opinion and presented a unique scenario in front of the NBA legend. While he expressed his disgust with Jada Pinkett Smith’s infamous cheating scandal, Adams just couldn’t agree with someone calling another man’s wife names in public in the name of comedy.

He asked the Big Man, “Shaq, would you let somebody call your wife out of her name bro? No, you would not.” He continued, It don’t matter if you’re at Disney World, it don’t matter bro. Call your wife out of your name, they gotta see you.”

Shaq responded with a question,The B word? that’s why you’re mad? What if he used the word heifer?”

Adams made the scenario personal in order to put it in a better context. As no matter what your opinion is about things in general, you navigate with more care when it is about someone you care about. However, Shaq still remained pretty adamant in his stance.

Shaq’s opinion back in 2022

Last year when the infamous “slap” happened, Shaq discussed it on the podcast. His opinion back then differed from what he said in the recent episode. The 4x NBA Champion had said, “If you ask 10 guys, four of them will say, I’d do the same thing for my wife. I don’t care about the consequences. That man disrespected my wife. I have to do what I have to do. Two others will say, Oh, I don’t know, and the other four will say, That was wrong, you shouldn’t have done that.”
