The season, in classic sports fashion, was filled with uncertainties and upsets. While the uncertainties helped elevate the standard of the game, the unfortunate events worked against the image of the league. Morant has been banned multiple times due to his questionable conduct, with his involvement in firearm-related incidents, which has led to his suspension from the league until further notice. As of now, Adam Silver and the NBA haven’t announced their final decision on Morant. Zion Williamson, on the other hand, is caught up in his baby mama drama for the past week.
Both these controversies are huge newsmakers and also tarnish the overall reputation of the league. Considering that Morant was looked at as the new face of the NBA and Williamson a talented individual, their careers halting in any way is a huge setback to the league. As controversies continue to pile up, several notable personalities have come out to give their takes. Recently, Gilbert Arenas talked about the two stars in a rather concerning tone. He said that this unfortunate situation is a reality due to the lack of mentorship for young, talented, and rich stars.

Arenas said that as young individuals have the world’s attention on them, they are bound to lose track sometimes.
The 3x NBA All-Star delved into his own beginnings in the league to highlight the issue at hand. He said, “We judge from our experience from where we are now versus who we were at that same age.” The 41-year-old added that “Some of the knucklehead things we did at 21, 22, 23,” will be highlighted that much more in today’s time. Arenas stated that the reason behind this is that the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contracts and all the country’s attention at such a young age will make “individuals do dumb things.”
