The basketball ball lit up earlier this month when Brittney Griner returned from Russia. The WNBA superstar was taken to a Russian prison for bringing in cannabis oil. For 294 days, the Phoenix Mercury center stayed away from her family. Until finally on December 8, Griner touched down in San Antonio. Her wife Cherelle was arguably one of the happiest people on the planet. However, it seems there are still some struggles to settle in.

Cherelle Griner was at the forefront of the fight to bring her wife home. Bravely making trips to news outlets, she kept the Mercury center’s voice alive. After nearly a year of grit, she saw her lover’s face in San Antonio. Since then, the two have tried to know each other’s stories.
However, meeting her wife after 294 days might have affected her. She is more than happy to take a little less shut-eye.

She told People.com, “But it happened, and we’re embracing the fact that we now get to learn each other’s story through that time. So we’re taking it slow. We are not doing it all at once.” Cherelle Griner continued, “We’re plus-13 days in from BG being away for almost 10 months. So it’s a new journey for us. And so we’re definitely trying to figure out how we blend back as one.”

It is probably wise to take things to slow between the couple. Brittney Griner might have faced some serious conditions while away in Russia. Moreover, adjusting back to the USA time zone may take some time for the seven-time All-Star. The priority for Cherelle Griner remains a comfortable settle-in process.
