It received rave reviews from the literary and basketball communities, and 14 years later, the book has been made into a movie. ‘Shooting Stars,’ provides an exciting and uplifting look into the phenomenal high school basketball careers of LeBron and his friends at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM). The movie, which is based on a true story, takes the audience on a thrilling journey while shedding light on the lives of these young athletes and the unbreakable bond they shared.

Even though the biopic had initially faced criticism, it seems to have gathered positive reactions from fans. Most recently, LeBron James expressed his gratitude for the success of the movie on Twitter, leading to an outpouring of comments.

LeBron James expresses his gratitude upon release of biopic

LeBron James and his friends’ high school basketball careers were marked by ups and downs. ‘Shooting Stars’ captures the essence of their journey; from modest beginnings, becoming a formidable force in the NBA. However, upon its announcement, the Peacock production was received with some harsh criticism. The trailer for the biopic had conflicting reviews. While some were excited, other fans voiced their displeasure about the movie despite its intriguing cast and inspiring plot.

The Los Angeles Lakers icon originally met his lifelong friends Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, and Willie McGee while playing basketball for the amateur athletic union (AAU) travel team, the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars. The bedrock for their journey was formed during these early years. It is from this team that the movie earned its name.

From the moment the teaser was released in March, some fans questioned the need for a LeBron James biopic at this point in his career. Fans compared the film negatively to previous basketball-related movies like Michael Jordan‘s ‘AIR’. Despite the initial criticism, the movie seems to be faring pretty well now that it has been released. And LeBron James recently expressed his gratitude for it.

Clearly, the movie seems to be a welcome addition to the King’s already impressive legacy. With the legendary Mamba, Kobe Bryant, being the only professional athlete to ever win an Oscar, fans are curious if LeBron will set similar targets for himself after retiring.
