As the podcast episode neared the end, co-host Ryan Clark asked Lue to advise kids on how to behave once they become established individuals in the league. The first thing Lue said was to be dedicated and respectful to the game.

The veteran coach then advised them to be a good person and said, “We all have bad days, but you can always be a good person. Sometimes, it could be to a fault, you know. Since December, I lost seven family members, you know, from Mexico but we lost six games in a row so I can’t leave my team behind. I know I should be there for my family and it’s been a tough time, my family wanted me there.”

He then added, “I can take the easy way out and say, ‘I’m gonna go home for a week’. But I just felt like I couldn’t do that.” Coach Lue’s story really shows his dedication to the team and gives a hint as to why the Clippers look in such good shape on the hardwood.
