Patrick Beverley continues to stay in the league with his gritty and determined performances in every game. While the 34-year-old adds value to any team he is a part of, he hasn’t been able to cement a place for himself in the league. After his run with the Los Angeles Lakers, Beverley is now playing for the fourth franchise over the past two years; the Chicago Bulls. However, the Bulls could finally prove to be the franchise that the Chicago-born Beverley calls home. After a lovely welcome from the crowd, Beverley made sure to give credit to his ex-teammate, LeBron James for his invaluable advice.

Pat Bev has received the honor of playing for his home team, which is a rare flex in the NBA. LeBron James went through a similar phase in his career during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Patrick Beverley was traded to the Orlando Magic, a few hours before the trade deadline on February 9. After the Magic decided to buy him out, Pat Bev decided to join his hometown team. However, it is never easy to play for your home team, considering the pressure and expectations the fans keep on the player.

When asked how it is to handle the pressure of playing in his hometown, Beverley replied, “Nah I’m a pro,” showing his confidence. He continued, “I talked to LeBron, who is my big brother. And I asked him a lot of questions, ‘How was it playing home?’.”

Sharing James’s advice, the guard added, “The biggest thing he told me, ‘prioritize your job, which is basketball, and have everything else come back after that.’ I just try to do that since I’ve been back.”

James was under a lot of pressure when he made a return to his home team Cavs, after leaving the organization in 2010 without delivering a championship. However, he fulfilled his promise and delivered the city of Cleveland its first major championships in 50 years.

The Bulls will be hoping to get into the Playoffs with Beverley’s addition

The Bulls are currently the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, just 1.5 games behind the Wizards. Though a playoff spot might be difficult considering the competition, there is a good chance the team can get into the Play-in tournament.
