On Christmas day in 2018, the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a 117-106 point game. However, a couple of things from this game stood out. Firstly, it was the first time four-time NBA champion LeBron James stepped into the Oracle Arena in a Lakers Jersey. Secondly, it was the last time LeBron and two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant faced each other in a regular season game. While fans are disappointed with this strange stat, Durant is to be happy.

In the ongoing season, Durant’s Nets and LeBron’s Lakers are struggling. The two teams are scheduled to play on Sunday. With this in mind, fans hoped to finally be treated to a Durant vs. LeBron game.

However, owing to James’ injury, this doesn’t seem very likely. As the frustration builds, Durant stated that not having LeBron “on the floor is less of a headache.”?

On the Boardroom podcast, Kevin Durant spoke about his rivalry with LeBron James. He was asked if it’s frustrating that he won’t get to play against LeBron on Sunday. Durant said, “I mean it’s not, LeBron is tough to deal with on the floor.”
Durant continued to state that while he wants James to play, his team needs a win. So with James missing out, KD feels the Nets have a better chance of winning.
Durant and James’ history dates back to their high school days. While speaking of this, Durant stated that for him it is always fun to play against James. KD believes that there has always been a sense of competition between them. However, this has only pushed them to be better and play better.
He then spoke about them guarding each other, something that has been constant since high school. He also acknowledged the fact that the NBA loves to watch them battle it out on the court.
Durant prayed for James’ injury to not be very serious. He also hoped to play against him when the Lakers visit the Nets early next year.

James?and Durant played together for Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics. They were instrumental in bagging the gold medal for the country. The two have met three times in the NBA finals. Durant won two out of the three. With that said, watching them going against each other is always a delight for fans.
