Days after the embarrassing exit from the championship run, an NBA award came in as a moment to cherish for the Curry family. The league announced Stephen Curry as the recipient of the 2022-23 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion on Tuesday for his continued contribution to society.
Notably, the league picked Curry out of the 5 finalists in the category. Moreover, sc30.com announced that they will donate the prize money of $100,000 to the University of San Francisco Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice.

The iconic award named after the 6x NBA Champion came into existence in 2021 and added to the long list of awards given away by the league. Abdul-Jabbar had a dedicated contribution to the black-American civil rights moment. Moreover, Curry became the third recipient of the award after Carmelo Anthony and Reggie Bullock.
