The game of basketball has evolved drastically over the years. Players tend to favor the three-pointer over a hard-nosed two points. Science has made leaps in strength, conditioning, and recuperation, resulting in players being able to play for more years. However, one thing that the league still hasn?t been able to find a solution for is load management. Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson recently revealed his stance on the issue after conversing with his friend Michael Jordan at the latter’s birthday party a few weeks ago.
There is no doubt the 82-game regular season does take a huge toll on players. Especially those who make deep runs in the postseason every year. However, critics argue that it still doesn?t justify the heartbreak a fan feels when he pays big bucks just to see his favorite player resting on the bench.

During an interview with ‘TODAY’, the Lakers legend discussed various topics. The hosts and Johnson talked about March Madness, the NBA playoffs, and more. One of the things that was touched upon was load management in the NBA and how fans oftentimes get disappointed to see their favorite star player sitting out of the game and resting on the bench.
When Johnson was asked about his take on resting star players even if they?re not injured, he instantly revealed his opinion. Johnson said, ?I hate it.” The five-time NBA champion mentioned that he discussed this pressing issue with His Airness as well.
He said, ?I was just at Michael Jordan?s 60th birthday party. He pulled me to the side and you know we talked about that for 30 straight minutes. We played every game, we wanted to play every single game. We couldn’t wait to get out there on the court. It?s about your ego, your passion, your love for the game.?

?It?s about those fans, who, like you said, pay their hard-earned money to watch you play this game of basketball. And then, we?re getting paid to play something we love. So, you gotta get out there,? added Johnson.
But the former 6?9 point guard wasn?t done. He also said, ?And last but not least, it?s about your team, where you stand. You?re losing games when you sit out. So, I dislike it, I hope they get rid of it. For the fans and for the organizations and for the overall health of the game.?
