About two months ago, avid collectors and basketball fans received the exciting news that left many in the sports world stunned. The iconic shoes worn by Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan during the NBA Finals were made available to interested buyers with a jaw-dropping price estimation. The six pairs of Jordan sneakers, known as ‘The Dynasty Collection’, were seemingly valued at $100 million. Now, the latest update on the sale revealed that one of the pairs was recently sold for a record-breaking price to an unknown buyer.

The signed sneakers were held at an auction by Sotheby in partnership with the Jordan brand. The price of the 1998 Finals shoes has effectively established His Airness as one of the most valuable athletes for sports memorabilia auctions.

In 2021, a pair of Nike Air Ships, previously worn by Michael Jordan during his playing career, was sold for $1.47 million. The sale set the record for the most expensive shoes to be auctioned. However, the record was recently broken when MJ’s Air Jordan XIIIs were sold for a whopping $2.2 million.

Jordan had worn the red and black pair of sneakers during Game 2 of the 1998 Finals, where he scored 37 points against the Utah Jazz. It was MJ’s last championship season with the Bulls before he retired for the second time.
