The Los Angeles Lakers lead the Conference semifinals 2-1 against the Golden State Warriors. Despite a turbulent regular season, the Lakers managed to clear the first round of the playoffs in 6 games. Going into the second round, the Lakers are dependent upon the usual suspects in the team to take them over the hump. Anthony Davis is surely on that list. However, his inconsistency has been a problem for veterans like Charles Barkley. After Barkley’s harsh opinion, Davis recently received words of encouragement from an NFL legend.

Although Davis is averaging a decent 22 points with 14.3 rebounds this season, he has been inconsistent with his performances. Recently, while comparing Davis’ performances to a roller coaster ride, an NFL legend stated that he still believes in him.

Davis has been to his team’s rescue several times this season. When nothing else worked on the court for the Lakers, including the mighty LeBron James, Davis has shown his mettle on those occasions. In their last matchup against the Warriors, Davis scored 25 points with 13 rebounds and three assists. But during game 3, the 30-year-old could only manage 11 points as the Lakers lost that game 127-100. This inconsistency was also discussed by veteran Charles Barkley as he said that Davis can’t be trusted. Barkley further questioned his ability to dominate games consistently.

He said, “Can Anthony Davis dominate for four games?”, while acknowledging that the 2020 NBA champion is surely an asset for the Lakers. However, Barkley concluded by saying that “he?s so inconsistent”.

After some tough assessment by Sir Charles, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe chimed in on the AD debate. He said that he hasn’t seen roller coasters go up and down like this. Although he echoed Sir Charles’ sentiment, Sharpe stated that he believes in AD. The 3x Super Bowl champion said “I believe in AD,” while adding that sometimes all it takes is for someone to believe in you.

The FS1 host also said that he believes AD has it in him to turn up for the next game.

Shannon Sharpe believes that there is more to Anthony Davis than what he lets people see

While talking about AD’s explanation regarding his inconsistency, Sharpe said that there is more to it than what AD explained. AD had said that he misses a few shots in one game and covers it up in the next game. Sharpe said that, “Maybe it is that simple. But I believe there is more than that.” He added that if it was actually so simple, everyone would be doing it.
