For any Knicks player, there was one goal in mind, to beat the Heat. Nothing could waver them from that objective. Yet there was one guy who had his emotions go haywire before Game 6. Josh Hart, the former Lakers guard, got a call hours before the game that he was going to be a first-time father. Without taking a second, he rushed into the car to get to his wife, Shannon Phillips.

Unfortunately, the doctors gave him some shattering news. They weren’t sure if he could make it to see the birth of his twins. Hart had to make a call, and so he made a brave one. The 28-year-old went back to the team hotel in Miami and instantly got on a Zoom call to watch the pregnancy.

Hart would play in Game 6, but irrespective of the result, there was only one thing he wanted to do after the final buzzer.

“No matter the result of this game, he has a car, he has a plane on standby. When the final buzzer sounds, he is going to be rushing back to New York so he can meet his new family,” reported Malika Andrews.

Hart didn’t let his heavenly high distract him from the Knicks’ attempt at forcing a Game 7. Coming off the bench, he scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, all while shooting 50% from the field. His Villanova teammate Jalen Brunson exploded for 41, but it still wasn’t enough for New York. They couldn’t get past the Miami Heat, who played scintillating defense in the series clincher.
