Kevin Garnett is undoubtedly one of the best power forwards in NBA history. Garnett led the Boston Celtics to the 2008 NBA finals, winning the championship title. In his twenty-one seasons long career, Garnett played against many greats of the game, including Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Given his long run in the league, the Celtics legend has many anecdotes to share, including his scary run-in with His Airness.

During a conversation with LA Clippers’ Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland, the 2008 NBA champion shared a particular incident related to the Bulls’ icon that would add to MJ’s basketball lore.

In a recent episode of his show KG Certified, Kevin Garnett talked to young star Bones Hyland about his trade to the Clippers team and their time in the playoffs. The duo also discussed trash-talking in the game. While talking about the use of trash talk as a mental attack on the opponent’s team, Garnett shared a personal experience from his time in the league.

The particular memory had something to do with the moment KG decided to trash-talk Michael Jordan on the court and instantly knew he had made a mistake.

The 15-time NBA All-Star revealed the time he had the edge over Jordan and had taken the ball from him. He said, “I caught him. He was going two dribbles coming up left, and he was trying to reject baseline. So I played the middle. I said ‘Man, if he do this s*** again, I’ma pick this s***.”

He added, “I f*** around and did that with MJ one time dog, and picked that sh** up. I sauced him, yo, no bulls**t.”

However, Garnett revealed the life lesson he had learned right after his attempt to pull one over Jordan without thinking of the consequences of his trash-talking.

Jordan’s revenge on KG

Before Garnett could even celebrate the success of his move against Jordan, His Airness was already a step ahead of him. Maybe MJ would have let the play go had it not been for KG’s comments.

The 46-year-old shared, with Hyland almost falling out of his chair laughing, “The next time down, M called the same play. Bones, this is real life. I was in front of the n****. I was right in front of him. I blinked, dog, and we are not blinking and when my eyes opened, he was at the cup.”
