A Russian court may have set a date for WNBA Star Brittney Griner to appeal her conviction, but this has not reduced the worries in her family. Her wife, Cherelle, said that the thought of Griner going to a labor camp keeps her up at night. And the same opportunity which could get Griner her freedom may turn into a nightmare for the star.
Griner has been in a Russian prison since February. In fact, she was later put on trial and sentenced to nine years in prison. And after months of appealing and asking for leniency, Griner has got another chance at her freedom.

Reports suggest that a Russian court has agreed to hear her appeal on October 25th. And many are hoping that Griner gets a chance to plead her case. But her wife is scared for Griner and what she may to go through.

Griner’s wife, Cherelle, recently opened up about what she has been going through in the past few months. And she also talked about Griner’s appeal. She said, “Once that hearing is held, and the order is finalized, B.G.’s now in the position where she could be moved to a labor camp. My brain can’t even fathom it.” ?
She also added, “I don’t know if she has anything left in her tank to continue to wake up every day and be in a place where she has no one”. Her wife said that Griner is at the weakest moment in her life. And she hopes that she won’t be forgotten in Russia.
Cherelle Griner recently met with President Biden and she was assured by him that US diplomats are doing everything they can to bring the Phoenix Mercury star home. But she also understands that there are experts invested in this situation and she hopes that it all works out.

The US Government had reportedly offered a prisoner swap deal to Russia. The deal was that Griner and another American citizen imprisoned in Russia return home for a convicted Russian in the US. And the two sides have been negotiating for months.
